ESH Organization

Managing our ESH Commitment

Lockheed Martin maintains high ESH standards and strives to continually improve performance by combining corporate leadership with business area ownership and site-level implementation. This layered approach is supported by an industry-leading management system that promotes ESH consistency and excellence across the Corporation.

The corporate organization develops and maintains Lockheed Martin ESH policies, strategies, functional procedures, metrics, programs and performance goals. It also is responsible for the ESH management system, which provides Lockheed Martin sites with common systems and processes for consistent data collection and analysis.

At the core of the management system is ESHWeb, a corporatewide resource that includes information on regulatory, corporate and voluntary programs as well as extensive databases to help ESH users fulfill their responsibilities. The management system also provides tools for tracking occupational injuries and illnesses, collecting ESH information on individual facilities, performing site-specific compliance audits, accessing computer-based training, and reducing risk by assessing “beyond compliance” aspects of facility operations and hazard controls.

Another important element of the organization is the ESH Leadership Council, composed of members of the senior ESH staff and ESH leads from each of Lockheed Martin’s four business areas. The council helps guide ESH decisions, brings attention to business area and functional concerns, and shares information about corporate programs and best practices.

Each business area establishes ESH performance goals that align with corporate goals and oversees implementation of the ESH management system, continuous improvement activities, communication of key messages, and business area compliance.

Business unit and site managers ensure that employees are aware of their ESH responsibilities and that they understand their critical role in ESH performance. All employees who work under hazardous conditions or in hazardous areas are required to receive annual training to ensure they are working safely.
